Participants' Stories

While in the U.S., I find myself thinking with my head.  While I am in Russia, I think with my heart.  Gwynn, United States
I felt well prepared between the pre-departure and arrival orientation.  I felt I learned more about the language immersing myself in this program, than I did on my Study Abroad program in St. Petersburg.  Christian, United States
I can’t explain it.  I will forever be changed by this experience and I hope to do it again.  The Russian people were so welcoming.  I felt at home from the moment I arrived…which was strange as I didn’t speak the language so we had to communicate using hand gestures.  Kelsey, United States
While I was on the plane I was petrified because I had no idea what to expect but I relaxed as soon as CCUSA picked me up from the airport because they were so helpful and really encouraged me that I was doing the right thing. By the end of the summer I loved it so much I didn’t want to leave!  Laura, England
I decided to go to Russia because it was something really different and I’m so glad I did. CCUSA was great- I worked in an amazing camp and made so many friends, I learned so much more about myself than I ever thought I would and I can even speak some Russian now! Working in Russia gave me so much confidence and it definitely impressed my current employer.  James, Scotland
The first two night’s accommodation in Russia was great and I absolutely loved the excursion around Moscow. I really had a fantastic introduction into life in Russia.  Sean, England
Working in Russia really was a life changing decision for me. It has completely changed my outlook on life and challenged the way I think about a lot of things. My family was so impressed at how independent I was when I came home. CCUSA gave me so much support and I’m already planning a holiday to go back and see everyone I met at orientation and camp!  Katie, Wales
