CCUSA History - OVER 30 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE
CCUSA was established in 1986. CCUSA was created to provide young adults from around the world an exciting opportunity to experience summer camp in the United States. Today, we are an internationally recognized cultural exchange organization that offers several programs worldwide to participants from over 60 different countries. We have placed over 200,000 young adults in hundreds of summer camps, volunteer opportunities and seasonal employment positions across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Europe, Brazil, Asia and South Africa!
Below is a brief description of CCUSA and our exciting programs:
In 1986, the Camp Counselors USA program was founded to give international participants the opportunity to work as camp counselors at summer camps in the U.S. As an international staff provider for more than 900 U.S. summer camps, Camp Counselors USA has developed a renowned reputation for quality service and exceptional international staff. The participants we recruit are known for their great attitudes, work ethic and strong skills.
In 1990, CCUSA expanded its camp counselor program outside of the United States with the opening of Camp Counselors Russia. This program offers the opportunity for young adults to work as camp counselors at Russian summer camps. International staff and children are able to exchange cultures and traditions in a unique setting.
In 1995, Work Experience USA was developed to widen the opportunities offered to international participants. Work Experience USA provides participants with valuable learning and personal growth experiences in jobs throughout the U.S. Students come to work in the U.S. during their summer holidays. Many of our participants have worked in national parks, amusement parks, resorts, hotels, ski resorts, ranches and various other seasonal employers. With many options to choose from, this student-only program is a wonderful way to expand your work experience, build a resume and meet new friends. Once again, CCUSA continues to lead the way by supplying top quality staff for U.S. employers.
In 1997, Work Adventures Down Under was launched. Young adults travel to Australia and/or New Zealand to work and travel their way around the country. Work Adventures Down Under helps participants make their travel and work in these countries as carefree and memorable as possible.
In 2000, CCUSA expanded its offerings to include Practical Training USA. The J-1 trainee visa allows qualified individuals in the fields of Business, Management, Finance, and Commerce to come to the U.S. to expand their skills through a 12 to 18-month training program. Successful completion of this program is a valuable addition to anyone’s CV.
In 2003, Camp California opened its doors. After years of requests for an American-style summer camp in mainland Europe, CCUSA built a summer camp on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in Croatia. With over 160 international campers per two-week sessions and a staff of 50 counselors from around the world, this camp has it all! Campers can participate in a variety of activities, including a ropes course, climbing wall and an amazing waterfront program with a renowned sailing program. CCUSA recruits both campers AND staff from around the world for Camp California.
In 2006, CCUSA added Camp Counselors Canada. Camp Counselors Canada gives young adults the opportunity to work as camp counselors at summer camps in Canada. Canada has a rich tradition of summer camps going back 100 years.
In 2007, CCUSA started Volunteer Experience South Africa. Participants from the UK, Australia and America can volunteer for various outreach programs within South Africa.
In 2008, Working Holiday USA was created to allow Australians and New Zealanders the option to extend their international working adventure in the USA for up to 12-months.
In 2016, CCUSA added Intern USA. Intern USA gives international students the opportunity to come to the United States to work as an intern in Business, Management, Finance or Commerce for up to 12-months, Participants expand their knowledge, build their CV and make new friends.
In 2017, CCUSA added Work Experience Canada, Work Experience Canada allows young adults from Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland to work and travel throughout Canada for up to 24 months.
In 2017, Volunteer Abroad was launched to help give young adults from all over the world the chance to volunteer in a variety of programs in 34 countries. This is an exciting new program for us and one that we know will be very popular in the years to come.
In 2017, Intern Abroad was started to help give young adults from all over the world the opportunity to intern in 30 fields/industries in 23 countries. This is an exciting new program for us to help young adults explore various careers and build an impressive CV.
Through a CCUSA program, you will develop strong personal friendships with people from around the world; grow, learn and experience different lifestyles as more than just a tourist; and become a valuable member of the community that you work in.
This year, CCUSA programs will place over 15,000 individuals in work and volunteer opportunities around the world! We are extremely proud of all the programs we offer.
