PROGRAMS - CHILE

Architecture

Architecture students may intern in a private company or with a public institution to learn about residential and commercial design. There is also the opportunity to learn about preservation of historical buildings and participate in conservation projects or international competitions.

Business & Marketing

Small and medium sized firms in Santiago are looking for interns with an interest in international business, consulting, online advertising, marketing, web design, and entrepreneurship.  Placements vary based on how long you can intern, your background and flexibility.  Placement in a winery is a popular opportunity for marketing and business development majors.

Engineering

Chile needs lots of work on its infrastructure and has been growing and expanding it in the last few years.  Engineering firms prefer engineering students in their last year of study, but other strong applicants will be considered. Specific types of engineering opportunities may include civil engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering and more.  Interns need to stay at least 3 months to allow time to adapt to a new company and get involved in the work.

Health - Physical Therapy

If you’re towards the end of pursuing a physical therapy degree, or a post grad, there are rewarding opportunities to intern in physical therapy clinics for children with disabilities, athletes and other individuals.  Roles include helping therapists during appointments, making sure rehabilitation programs are implemented correctly, and observing different methods of care for children and youth based on their personal situation.

Law

A little over a decade, Chile made changes to make its legal system more resemble the North American/European models.  Those with a law background will have the opportunity to work with lawyers and non profits to help with preparing cases, research, and record keeping. In some instances, interns have been able to watch courtroom cases. This is a unique chance to experience a newly reformed legal system and gain an understanding about human rights law.

Media & Journalism

Internships are available in both online and printed media in Santiago.  Internship roles can include writing web content, journalism, photography and radio. Those in radio and television are given the opportunity to direct productions and work with the equipment to explore their creativity.  There are also a few opportunities in Patagonia for journalism students. This is a bilingual magazine (English and Spanish) focusing on the people and beautiful Patagonia area in Chile and Argentina.
