PROGRAMS - ECUADOR

Abused Girls/Teens – Therapy or Social Work

At this facility, interns interested in physical therapy and language therapy are needed to work with children who have behavioral problems and special needs and have been victims of abuse.  The young patients are victims of negligence, abandonment and abuse.  They range in age from 1 – 18 yrs old.  They live in a group home where organizers can ensure their safety and recovery.  Different options are available to interns based on their skills and interest.

Biotech in Bovine Reproduction

Get hands-on experience working in Ecuador’s first biotech lab.  Bovine reproduction is a critical area of study for developing nations to improve their cattle industry.  Interns studying Zoo technology and agricultural engineering are needed to help instruct and promote the lab’s research and everyday efforts.

Dental

This program offers both long-term and short-term internships to those individuals interested in working in dental clinics.  You will immerse yourself in the culture providing much needed dental care to patients in Macas, Cuenca or remote jungles in Ecuador.  Whether you are a dental student or seasoned professional, you will have a relevant and enriching experience that will make a powerful impact.

Human Rights and Legal

Interns will work with the office of the President of the Interprovincial Federation of Shuar Centers located in the town of Sucua.  Interns help with training and educational seminars and workshops offered to schools and communities among the Shuar, the native people of Ecuador and Peru.  Interns, depending on qualifications, may be given the opportunity to offer legal advice, conduct legal research and assess human rights claims.  Interns will play an active role in the push for human rights and witnessing how laws respond to the needs of disadvantaged communities in Ecuador.

Medical

This program offers both long-term and short-term internships to those individuals interested in working in medical clinics.  You will immerse yourself in the culture providing much needed medical care to patients in Macas, Cuenca or remote jungles in Ecuador.  Whether you are a pre-med, medical student or seasoned professional, you will have a relevant and enriching experience that will make a powerful impact.

Public Policy – Human Rights

Interns will help officials at the Rights Protection council monitor public human rights policies to ensure they are compliant with national and international regulations.  Interns will connect with networks and agencies that specialize in the protection of rights.  Priority is given to Seniors, Children, Teens, Pregnant Women, Special Needs, Criminals and those suffering from terminal illnesses.

Sports Rehab and Development

Interns interested in sharing their skills around sports injury, rehab and coaching are welcome to work with staff members of a regional organization that oversees athletics and sports development.  Your responsibilities would include planning physical training, helping to organize teams, coaching, helping injured athletes, injury prevention and rehabilitation.  Other responsibilities might also include recruiting young athletes and team management.

Teaching

Interns will work with kids 4 -9 years old and 10-14 years old to help them improve their English language skills.  Schools are in and around Macas, Sucua and Lima Indanza where they have modest facilities and limited resources.

Tourism

Interns will work with local officials, travel agents, tour operators and guides to inspire them to attract tourists to Morona Santiago.  They will help raise awareness about the regions natural wonders and environmental riches.  Activities include organizing expositions, conventions and local tourist attractions.
