International Trade for Small Businesses

This internship is with a small business agency of the Yucatán state that helps small businesses promote their products in the international market. Interns work in various departments within the agency including business skills development, developing export plans, marketing, branding, design, and promotion. Interns will help develop, improve, and promote local products outside Mexico. Participants must have a background in finance, marketing, international business, design or other related areas. Intermediate level Spanish is required.

  • Minimum:  2 weeks
  • Location: Yucatan, Mexico

Marketing

Interns work with museums, non-profits and private companies on marketing strategies specific to their needs.  Interns will gain valuable experience in advertising, public relations, media planning, sales strategy and more. Interns will be able to work on specific projects, or be involved with long-term strategies.  Intermediate or advance level of Spanish is required.

Sustainable Development

This is a unique internship experience for individuals who want to use their knowledge and skills to help indigenous communities in the western region of the Yucatan. Interns are assigned a project based on their skills and work closely with the host community. Currently these projects are in the areas of Conservation, Community Development and Microfinance.  The objective is for rural and indigenous communities to use their natural resources and strengthen their culture and social integrity. This is obtained through promoting environmental, social and economic development.  Interns must have advanced level Spanish.

Tourism Development

Internships are available within local government organizations to provide unique opportunities where interns learn about the various aspects of the tourism industry in Mexico. Interns work in a variety of areas, from helping to develop new forms of tourism to working in public relations in the community. Participants can choose from positions in the fields of Marketing, Ecotourism, Tourist Operations and Public Relations. These internships require a background in tourism, marketing, finance or related fields. An intermediate level of Spanish is required.
