PROJECTS - NICARAGUA

Physical Therapy

Interns will work at a physical therapy clinic helping provide direct care to patients. The center works with people of all ages and who suffer from recent injuries or are born with disabilities. Interns will assist by giving direct care to patients at the clinic, helping with physiotherapy sessions to children at a special education school and local nursing homes.  Interns will be given the opportunity to discuss and share experiences and knowledge with local doctors and staff and the Center for Physical Health.  This program is open to students or professionals of Physical Therapy. An Intermediate to advance level of Spanish is required.

  • Minimum:  2 weeks
  • Location:  Granada, Nicaragua
  • Lodging/Meals:  Host Family or Guest House; 2 meals a day, except Sundays

Women’s Programs – Psychology and Social Work

Interns will work with orphan girls who have endured physical and psychological abuse. The organization strives to help these girls overcome their traumas from physical and emotional abuses by providing a safe and caring environment.  
Interns with background in Psychology and/or Social Work are encouraged to apply.  They will be given the opportunity to work with the professional staff on site, running self-esteem workshops and helping the girls transition.
Interns must have a strong intermediate level of Spanish language skills. These programs are only open to female volunteers.
