PROGRAMS - IRELAND

Finance and Accounting

Internships are available in banks and private companies that deal with products and/or services.  Interns will have the opportunity to experience the financial operations and be assigned tasks including processing of purchase orders for payment, payroll duties, income audit and analysis, issuing of payments and processing of invoices. 

  • Minimum:  4 weeks

Human Resources and Public Relations

HR and PR interns will gain experience in either private firms or departments of larger companies.  PR interns will either work on small projects related to private companies or assist a team in larger projects. HR interns are involved in various tasks such as interviewing, training and development and general policy. Interns will learn the Irish employment procedures and gain knowledge of their labor laws. Applicants should have an educational background in HR, PR, or related fields.

IT and Graphic Design

Interns with knowledge of some of the most popular software applications are able to find internships in Graphic Design.   IT internships are also available in the areas of Software Product Development, IT Networking, Telecommunications, Web Development, E-Commerce/Marketing, and CRM Systems.

Legal

Internship programs are available in a variety of legal areas such as business law, family law, probate and wills, and property law. Interns will learn about Ireland's Common Law system and become familiar with Irish legal practices. Interns may also be invited to attend court hearings on current cases. The Irish law firms are small to medium in size.   Note that the courts are closed for summer holiday the entire month of August, so interns will not be attending court hearings in August.

Marketing

Internship placements are available with marketing departments and firms in a wide range of areas. Interns can gain experience in advertising, public relations, media planning, sales strategy and more. Interns will be able to work on specific projects, or be involved with long-term strategies.

Media

Media interns can work in one of many different areas, such as print media, radio, TV, and film.  Opportunities are specific to the organization at the time and may vary accordingly.

Museums and Galleries

Interns will work with staff members at museums or galleries to gain skills and training in museum and gallery practice.  Specific projects will vary depending on the institution’s needs, but will include curatorial, education, conservation and administration responsibilities.  Space is limited so apply early.

Photography

There are two different internship options:

Private Studio: A private photography studio that focuses on portraits and weddings, is looking for interns to assist with photo finishing and editing. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the business side of photography.  

Archival: Intern in an organization that has over 400,000 political and social photographic images dating back to the early 50's, documenting all aspects of Irish contemporary life. This internship is good for students or recent graduates (particularly in Irish studies/Museum, archive or Heritage studies/Curatorial or Visual Arts), who are looking to gain archiving experience in a photographic arts organization. Interns will learn cataloging and digitizing the collection and will be introduced to the unique processes within a dynamic arts organization.

Tourism

Interns will work behind the scenes in various capacities.   Jobs might include, putting together travel itineraries and visa applications at a travel agency.  Interns can also work in the tourist office of some of Dublin's most popular cultural attractions, and be in direct contact with tourists. Interns must be interested in tourism and/or have an educational background in tourism. Internship placements are available in marketing, tourist information centers, operational office assistance, etc.

Veterinary

Interns will work under the supervision of veterinarians in their private offices with domestic animals.  This program is open to current veterinary students, vet tech students at least 21 years of age, and licensed veterinarians. Space is limited so apply early.  These placements are also very competitive, so students will be asked to submit a copy of their transcripts for acceptance to this program.
