PROJECTS - EDUCATION

Creative Arts - GHANA

Art is often a subject that falls by the wayside in poor communities. This project hopes to change that by giving Ghanaian children the opportunity to learn about art and express themselves through this medium. With so many challenges in their daily life, this program is a unique opportunity for them to be creative and increase their positivity. Participants on this program will have a teaching plan to follow, but are encouraged to share anything that they feel will be beneficial to the children. Art is more than just a creative endeavor. It can also help the children develop a sense of self-worth increase their focus, memory and have a positive effect in other academic subjects.

  • Minimum:  2 weeks
  • Location:  Kumasi, Ghana
  • Lodging/Meals:  Host Family; 2 Meals per day included during work week (Breakfast & Dinner), Lunch not included, meals not include on weekends

Teaching Assistant - RWANDA

Working with some of the poorest families, volunteers assist in Teaching English along with offering afterschool support in a homework club. Help to improve future prospects for these disadvantaged children in breaking the poverty cycle.

  • Minimum:  2 weeks
  • Location:  Rwamagana, Rwanda
  • Lodging/Meals: Guest House; 2 Meals per day included (Breakfast & Dinner)

Teaching Assistant – SOUTH AFRICA

On this project, volunteers work with at risk youth helping to provide quality education.  Schools have limited resources so volunteers have the opportunity to play an essential role assisting in primary schools throughout Cape Town.

  • Minimum:  2 weeks
  • Location:  Cape Town, South Africa
  • Lodging/Meals: Volunteer House; 2 Meals per day included Monday through Friday (Breakfast & Dinner)

Teaching Assistant - UGANDA

Volunteers Teach English, vocational skills and other subjects to orphaned and underprivileged children. Volunteers plan and teach English, Math, Science, Physical Education, Health, HIV awareness as well as plan and execute extracurricular activities and sports programs.

  • Minimum:  2 weeks
  • Location:  Kampala, Uganda
  • Lodging/Meals:  Host Family; 2 Meals per day included (Breakfast & Dinner)

Teaching Core Subjects - GHANA

Teachers are needed at both all education levels (preschool, primary/elementary and secondary/middle) in Ghana. Participants have the choice to work in Kumasi city or in the countryside of the Ashanti region. Volunteers can help teach a wide range of subjects including history, business education, music, art, English, math and science. You may also be asked to help with administrative duties and teach basic life skills as well. These vulnerable children will be lucky to have you as an additional resource.

  • Location:  Kumasi or the Ashanti Region, Ghana
  • Lodging/Meals:  Host Family; 2 Meals per day included during work week (Breakfast & Dinner), Lunch not included, meals not include on weekends

Teaching English - TANZANIA

Opportunity for volunteers to work with impoverished children in nursery and primary schools teaching English.  Working in some of the poorest schools in Arusha, children learning English is vital to their success to finding future employment.  Schools are underfunded and understaffed so volunteers make a great impact on the lives of these children.

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Arusha, Tanzania
  • Lodging/Meals: Guest House (Hostel); 2 -3 Meals per day included, depending on where you are working  

Teach English, French or Spanish Languages - MOROCCO

The goal of this project is to help teach different languages to children from modest backgrounds. Volunteers will teach these children different languages and give them skills necessary for a prosperous life. The teaching can be challenging because the groups range in age and ability levels.

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Rabat, Morocco
  • Lodging/Meals:  Volunteer House; 2 -3 Meals a day included
