PROJECTS - YOUTH ENRICHMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Adventure Sports Enrichment – SOUTH AFRICA

Disadvantaged children have the opportunity to do weekly extramural activities such as surfing, sand boarding, mountain hikes, swimming, soccer, team building, computer classes, workshops, and beach clean-ups. Volunteers are fabulous role models for children ages 12 to 14 years of age, assisting in facilitating this popular program. Children learn self confidence, team work and other skills while participating in sports and physical activity.

Childcare – RWANDA

This is an opportunity for volunteers to work with disadvantaged children, ages 3 to 6 years of age, which have been affected by genocide.  Working in a new early education program, children are provided an opportunity to learn and thrive.

Childcare - ZIMBABWE

Help to support children and youth in Victoria Falls by helping them prepare for national education exams. Organize indoor and outdoor sports and games. Help teach English and assist them with school projects. The Children’s Center is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that aims to provide positive educational and recreational activities to support and empower young children.

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe   
  • Lodging/Meals:  Volunteer House; 2 Meals per day (Breakfast & Dinner), Lunch provided at project on Weekdays and at Volunteer House on Weekends

Childcare & Enrichment - MOROCCO

Volunteers will work with children and young adults to help them learn critical life skills including language skills, computer, math, recreation and organized education.  Volunteers with a basic understanding of French and Arabic are preferred, but a responsible and compassionate attitude is imperative.

Childcare/Pre-School – SOUTH AFRICA

On this project, volunteers must be flexible, patient and have a passion working with children. Working with impoverished families, volunteers will help with children up to six years of age at home based crèches or pre-schools that are often run by women who have not received much training in early childhood development. This amazing project allows volunteers to truly make a difference in the lives of impoverished children.

Education & Development Projects – MOMBASA & DIANI BEACH, KENYA

Schools are under resourced and volunteers are greatly needed to help make an impact on the lives of the people in Kenya. The schools are looking for volunteers who have experience in speech therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, social work and other specialty areas. Volunteers can choose to work in primary or high school, special needs, boarding schools or language schools for adults. Areas are severely impoverished, and the children are often neglected.

Education & Development Projects – NAIROBI, KENYA

Schools are under resourced and volunteers are greatly needed to help make an impact on the lives of vulnerable children in Nairobi. Most of the children are orphaned and have been abandoned. A solid education is needed to support these children and help break the poverty cycle to give them a better life. Volunteers will teach at primary (elementary) and high school levels in areas of math, science, history, English, geography, art and music.

Orphanage Childcare & Development - TANZANIA

Volunteers help care for children between the ages of 2 and 14 that have been orphaned, abandoned or impoverished. The center is family run and receives no government funding so strictly relies on support from volunteers. Volunteers help to care for and play games with the children as well as provide educational support.

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Arusha, Tanzania
  • Lodging/Meals: Guest House (Hostel); 2 -3 Meals per day included, depending on where you are working

Orphanage Childcare & Development - UGANDA

Assist in caring for and making a difference in the lives of orphaned, abandoned and impoverished children. Located in Eastern Uganda, this children’s home has 200 children between the ages of 4 weeks and 16 years. Besides being a children’s home, this facility is a primary school, secondary school, special needs unit, vocational school and clinic. Volunteers’ tasks vary including organizing play, arts and crafts, help with feeding, hygiene and HIV/AIDS education, administrative tasks such as preparing budgets, writing proposals and maintaining files. This home is run under religious beliefs, although volunteers don’t need to have the same values, they do need to be respectful.

Orphanage Childcare & Enrichment - GHANA

This childcare center in Kumasi is in desperate need of volunteers to share love and kindness with impoverished children. They may be orphaned or their parents simply cannot afford to take care of them. Volunteers help with everything from feeding the children, playing with them, tutoring, educating them about hygiene, helping with bath time and more. These children crave your time and attention, and your help will increase their self confidence and give them a sense of self-worth.

  • Minimum:  3 weeks
  • Location:  Kumasi, Ghana
  • Lodging/Meals:  Host Family; 2 Meals per day included during work week (Breakfast & Dinner), Lunch not included, meals not include on weekends

Orphanage Childcare & Enrichment – MOMBASSA, KENYA

Volunteers are needed to help work with vulnerable children and orphans in various community-care centers in either Mombasa or Diani Beach.  Duties would include teaching toddler classes, running activities, field trips, fundraising and helping complete construction projects.  Volunteers with musical knowledge, social work, counseling, construction and/or experience working with special needs children are greatly appreciated.

Orphanage Childcare & Enrichment – NAIROBI, KENYA

Volunteers are needed to help work with some of the most impoverished children in Nairobi. A lot of care centers in Kenya house children infected with HIV/AIDS who have been abandoned. Volunteers will provide much needed care, hope and compassion to these children.

SPORTS ENRICHMENT – GHANA

Volunteers help to provide free soccer (“football”) training to children to alleviate potential health and social issues by engaging children and helping them develop a life-long love of sports and physical activity. This fun program plays an essential role in helping teens thrive. Join us in making a difference!

Youth Physical Education – SOUTH AFRICA

Help to promote sports and physical education with at risk youth in Cape Town. Volunteers work with primary school children coaching sports and teaching about fitness. Helping to get children off the streets, this program helps teach confidence and team work.
