PROJECTS - SPECIAL NEEDS

CARING FOR THE ELDERLY - COLOMBIA

Provide care to the elderly who have been left destitute and vulnerable.  Many of them have been abandoned by their families when caring for them became burdensome or too expensive.  Help to improve the quality of their lives so they can enjoy their days.  Opportunity for cross cultural understanding which benefits both the residents and the international volunteers.

  • Minimum:  3 weeks
  • Location:  Cartagena, Colombia
  • Lodging/Meals:  Host Family; 2 Meals per day included (Breakfast & Lunch)

Caring for the Elderly - ECUADOR

This home for the elderly is located in beautiful Quito. Those who live here are victims of poverty or dealing with difficult physical/health issues. This program requires a lot of care and concern for those in the home. Some days can be challenging but incredibly gratifying. Spending time with the volunteers is an exciting part of each person’s day in the home. Your tasks will include activities with the residents, helping feed those who have difficulty, reading to them and more. Participants on this program should be willing to adapt as your daily tasks may differ day to day.

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Quito, Ecuador
  • Lodging/Meals:  Volunteer Apartment, Self-Catered or Home Stay, 2 Meals per day included (Breakfast & Dinner)

Special Needs - ECUADOR

A special needs home in Quito is devoted to caring for children between 0 and 14 years. Like many of these organizations, it often lacks sufficient funding and labor necessary to operate. Many of the children have chronic or untreatable diseases. The organization also manages a day care center for kindergarteners with special needs. This site provides food, medical attention, and therapy. Your care and time spent with these children will be greatly appreciated by all at the center.

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Quito, Ecuador
  • Lodging/Meals: Volunteer Apartment, Self-Catered or Home Stay, 2 Meals per day included (Breakfast & Dinner)

Special Needs - PERU
