PROJECTS - EDUCATION

Education & Development - CAMBODIA

This volunteer project involves working directly in classroom settings, teaching basic subjects including computer skills. Imaginative teaching methods are encouraged. Such educational support helps these disadvantaged children prepare more adequately for entering into employment.

  • Minimum:  4 weeks
  • Location:  Phnom Penh, Cambodia
  • Lodging/Meals:  Volunteer House OR Home Stay Family; 3 Meals per day included

Teaching Assistant - INDIA

Education is essential in laying the groundwork for the future of India’s children.  This program offers a mutual exchange of skills and experience to enhance the value for everyone.  Volunteers will teach and assist in various subjects in classrooms around Jaipur with an emphasis on helping children develop their English language skills. 

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Jaipur, India
  • Lodging/Meals:  Volunteer House; 2 Meals per day included (Lunch & Dinner)

Teaching Assistant – SRI LANKA

Teach English and IT skills assisting local teachers in supporting the needs of impoverished children.  English is becoming an important skill especially for those who want to seek employment in the tourism sector.  Help to break the poverty cycle, assisting non-English speakers improve their pronunciation and conversation skills.

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Badulla, Galle, Wattala, Sri Lanka
  • Lodging/Meals: Host Family; 3 Meals per day included

Teaching Assistant – Bangkok, THAILAND

Teach English and other subjects to children.  Roles can vary depending on the school, the time of year and the volunteers comfort level.  No teaching background is necessary.

  • Location:  Bangkok, Thailand
  • Lodging/Meals: Volunteer House; Daily, Breakfast included, Monday through Friday Lunch is included at program site, Dinner is Self-Catered, Lunch and Dinner are Self-Catered on weekends

Teaching Assistant – Chiang Mai, THAILAND

Teach English and other subjects to children.  Roles can vary depending on the school, the time of year and the volunteers comfort level.  No teaching background is necessary.

Teach English – BALI

Volunteers are needed in the areas of Tabanan, Tianyar Village and Ubud Village to help support the impoverished families by offering their children the skills needed to better enhance their futures.  Volunteers with provide free English language classes to under-privileged children ranging in age from 5 – 18 years old. 

  • Minimum:  2 weeks
  • Location:  Tabanan Region, Tianyar Village and Ubud Village - Bali
  • Lodging/Meals:  Guest House; All meals included on volunteer days (M – TH)

Teach English - CAMBODIA

One of the most valuable skills to break free from poverty is learning English.  Unfortunately, in this area they have little access to adequate or native English speaking teachers.  Sharing your knowledge of English provides a solid foundation for poor Cambodian youth to improve their future prospects.

  • Location:  Siem Reap, Cambodia
  • Lodging/Meals:  Volunteer House; Lunch Included daily during the week at project

Teaching English - LAOS

Learning to speak English unlocks a world of opportunities in impoverished areas and Luang Prabang is no exception. Volunteers will be given the opportunity to teach a variety of subjects in lots of different areas. They will be given the chance to work on special projects making their experience even more dynamic and interesting.

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Luang Prabang, Laos
  • Lodging/Meals:  Guest House; Breakfast included daily

Teach English – Kathmandu Monastery, NEPAL

This program allows volunteers to be fully immersed with the amazing people and culture in Buddhist monasteries or nunneries.  Volunteers will be able to live in the monastery or nunnery while spending their time teaching English to Nepali and Tibetan monks or nuns.  Volunteers become a part of everyday life, staying among the residents, taking part in rituals and gaining a rare insight into their spiritual life.

Teach English – Pokhara Monastery, NEPAL

This program allows volunteers to help improve the education of Nepal’s Buddhist monks.  Volunteers work with local organizations that offer free programs teaching in monasteries.   The Nepali and Tibetan monks and nuns have led a sheltered life and have a thirst for knowledge. Volunteers teach English, but also insights into first aid, environmental issues, health, hygiene, political issues and human rights.

Teaching English - THAILAND

On an island on the Gulf of Thailand, volunteers work directly with the children Teaching English and other subjects.  Working with impoverished students, English is a prerequisite for many jobs in Koh Samui due to the tourism market so volunteers get to help improve future prospects for these children.

  • Minimum:  1 week
  • Location:  Koh Samui Island, Thailand
  • Lodging/Meals: Volunteer House; Monday – Friday, Lunch is provided, Breakfast and Dinner and all meals on the weekend are Self-Catered

Teaching English Buddhist Monks – Bangkok or Chiang Mai, THAILAND

Working with Buddhist Monks, volunteers Teach English in temple schools.  Working with a Thai teacher, they can either assist or start creating their own lesson plans.  This is a great opportunity for cross cultural sharing as monks often have lived sheltered lives as they may have joined monasteries at a very young age.

Teaching English in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, VIETNAM

Teach English to disadvantaged children so they can develop better communication skills.  Programs may be based in a Vietnamese school, community center, shelter or center for vocational training.  Volunteers have the opportunity to work with primary/elementary and secondary/middle school children and teaching qualifications are not a requirement.  Volunteers may create their own lessons and design games to teach English.
